Product data enrichment

Lasso vs Crobox

Prepare product facts before activating discovery.

Crobox enriches product feeds with shopper-friendly, psychology-informed attributes. Choose Lasso for the supplier preparation, content production and catalog work behind that discovery experience.

Consider Crobox

A strong fit when behavioral attributes, guided discovery, filtering and shopper relevance are your central optimization goals.

Choose Lasso when

Choose Lasso when you need to prepare reliable product records and rich content from supplier sources before the data reaches discovery tools.

Two tools. Different starting points.

Crobox

Primary goal
Shopper relevance through behavioral and psychology-informed attributes.
Starting input
Mapped product feeds; current enrichment material also covers descriptions, PDFs and supplier sources.
Enrichment
Typed properties, rules, image analysis and shopper-oriented context.
Output use
Discovery experiences and enriched feeds exported to a PIM or store.

Lasso

Primary goal
Reliable product records, rich content and maintainable catalog data.
Starting input
Supplier files, URLs, assets and existing product information.
Enrichment
Source research, custom attributes and content based on your instructions.
Output use
Reviewed product data, descriptions and images for your next system.

Decide what the enriched data should make possible

Crobox connects catalog enrichment with product discovery. Lasso centers the team’s preparation and maintenance of product data, content, and assets. Compare the shared data work and the intended destination.

Keep technical facts and shopping language connected

Crobox combines rules and AI with a behavioral framework to turn technical properties into more useful shopper-facing attributes. Its current search-enrichment material also describes extraction from descriptions, PDFs, and supplier feeds. Source preparation is therefore an overlap to test, not a capability to assume is absent. Lasso is worth evaluating when the product team needs the underlying specifications, rich descriptions, and image work together. Keep the measured fact separate from the benefit or use-case interpretation so an attractive shopping label remains defensible.

Define which feed owns each field

Crobox documents locale feeds, enrichment feeds, typed properties, variant-level mapping, and in-app manual enrichment. Its manual-enrichment guide warns that re-indexing and other property settings can conflict with edits. That makes ownership a practical decision, even when the first import is clean. Compare how a later supplier correction interacts with an editor’s approved value. In Lasso, inspect the attribute rules, source evidence, and catalog handoff for the same case. Agree the update policy before either tool becomes a second writer to an existing PIM.

Producing content and guiding a shopper are different jobs

Crobox’s Product Finder and recommender tools use product properties to shape questions, filters, and ranked recommendations. Lasso’s role is preparing the product facts, reusable rich content, and images that your team needs to publish. If the main project is guided selling, evaluate the customer journey and its data model together. If incomplete supplier content is the bottleneck, evaluate the preparation workflow first. The tools may serve adjacent stages; a general AI conversation in a catalog workspace is not automatically a storefront product finder.

Test the journey from specification to useful recommendation

Choose one category where shoppers describe a need rather than a specification. Involve both the product editor and the owner of search or guided selling.

  1. Verify the facts behind a shopper label

Take a supplier file, a technical PDF, and images for a small family of products. Choose a factual attribute and a related use-case label, such as capacity and household size. Define what evidence justifies the label and include an ambiguous variant. Compare extraction, normalization, and review in the proposed workflows before deciding how the property will influence recommendations.

  2. Inspect the content and discovery experience separately

Prepare product descriptions in your target languages and a checked image in Lasso. In Crobox, test the intended questions, filters, and result rules using the same approved properties. Ask a category expert to inspect an edge-case answer and a product with missing data. Separate content-production effort from changes needed in the finder, recommender, or search index.

  3. Repeat a feed update and an editor correction

Correct one product value after manual enrichment, then run the next feed or re-index. Check product and variant IDs, locales, preserved edits, and the resulting recommendation. Test the intended export back into your PIM or store without assuming a native Lasso connection. Assign responsibility for mapping, rules, and conflicting updates. Measure discovery results over an agreed period rather than adopting a vendor’s uplift figure.

A few useful answers.

Does Crobox only add behavioral tags?

No. Current product material includes data cleaning, structured enrichment, source extraction, and export for reuse. Its documentation describes typed properties, transformation rules, manual edits, and image analysis. The behavioral framework is a distinctive part of that wider discovery workflow. Lasso should be evaluated on the full preparation process, especially supplier evidence, rich product content, image work, and shared catalog operations. Use your own difficult records in both tools; a high-level label such as enrichment does not reveal how much review and maintenance your team will need.

Can Crobox read product images?

Yes. Its image-analysis guide describes visual properties, product or variant targeting, prompt configuration, previews, and background processing. It also warns that rerunning enrichment can overwrite manual edits. Compare that recognition workflow with the image work you need: identifying visible properties is different from generating a new scene, fixing a photograph, or checking an output requirement. In either tool, a photograph’s appearance cannot establish an invisible technical fact such as a certified material composition. Review the original evidence before accepting such a value.

Can enriched properties be reused in our existing PIM?

Crobox advertises upstream export into a PIM or ecommerce platform. Its feed guide also distinguishes locale feeds from enrichment feeds and requires stable product identifiers. Agree which system owns each field and test the exact exported structure and refresh behavior. Lasso can be evaluated upstream or alongside an existing PIM, but a shared destination does not establish a ready-made Crobox–Lasso connector. Run a small product family through the proposed handoff, then repeat it after an editor change and a supplier correction.

Does Lasso replace Crobox’s Product Finder and analytics?

Lasso’s documented focus is product preparation and catalog work, rather than an equivalent shopper-facing guided-selling package. Crobox’s Product Finder includes question flows and product insights; its recommender uses properties, rules, and ranking. If those experiences are central, evaluate them directly. Product analytics is planned in Lasso and should not be treated as a current replacement. Lasso may still improve the underlying product content, but useful data preparation and a successful customer-facing recommendation need separate validation and owners.

What belongs in a fair cost and results comparison?

Scope preparation, enrichment, review, export, and any storefront discovery experience separately. Ask Crobox which mapping, behavioral setup, product finders, insights, and support are included in the proposal. For Lasso, measure usage and editorial work on the same products, including corrections and image tasks. Published customer outcomes are not a forecast for your assortment. Record factual accuracy and approved-output effort first, then evaluate search or conversion against your own baseline. Neither the cheapest subscription nor the most impressive demo identifies the best operating fit.
