Lasso and Ergonode both combine PIM, DAM, and AI. Choose Lasso for a connected supplier-to-listing workflow: extract files, research missing details, and create reusable rich content with images your team can review.

A shared home for your products and AI.

Choose around the work you need done.

Consider Ergonode

Ergonode suits teams coordinating multilingual catalogs through configurable product templates, completeness rules, workflows, and AI content and image tools.

Choose Lasso when

Choose Lasso when supplier onboarding, web research, reusable product content, and ongoing catalog work need to happen in one shared workspace.

Look beyond the shared PIM and AI feature list

Both platforms combine product data, assets, and AI. Your decision turns on how supplier material enters the catalog, how updates are controlled, and what actually reaches your store.

Start with the supplier material you really receive

Ergonode has an XLS/XLSX importer with saved mapping profiles. It expects attributes to exist already and creates new simple products, while updating all supported product types. That is a useful starting point for repeatable, structured supplier files. Lasso is worth testing when the work also involves extracting mixed documents, normalizing values, and researching missing specifications before accepting a batch. Compare the preparation your team performs before an import and the corrections left afterward. A successful spreadsheet upload is only one part of onboarding.

Separate automated edits from approval rules

Ergonode documents conditional automations for attribute edits, AI descriptions, and translations, alongside workflow transitions controlled by completeness and user roles. That matters when catalog changes must follow a defined review route. In Lasso, evaluate established batch work, reusable attribute instructions, and AI Activity for examining sources and recorded inputs. Its graphical AI workflow builder is marked coming soon. Choose against the process you can operate today: who may change a value, who checks it, and what prevents unreviewed content from reaching the next system.

Check what a “template” produces outside the PIM

Ergonode template sections organize the internal editing form; the manual explicitly distinguishes them from content exported to a store. Its rich-text fields also support formatting and attribute variables, so it is not limited to plain text. Lasso content templates combine fixed sections, product values, AI text, images, and repeating blocks, with a product preview. If a reusable product-page layout is your bottleneck, compare the rendered output in your own storefront. Check image placement, supported markup, and what happens when a source attribute changes after generation.

Test one supplier update from file to storefront

Use a small product family with genuine gaps and one later correction. Judge the approved output and the work required to maintain it.

  1. Import the family, including the awkward records

Take an XLSX file, technical PDFs, packshots, and a supplier URL for the same family. Include variants, a renamed column, and a value with the wrong unit. Agree on identifiers and required attributes first. Record any preparation outside each tool, then check product matching, option values, and variant relationships. Keep missing specifications visible rather than filling them with guesses.

  2. Review the product page, not only the filled fields

Create copy in your target languages with the same terminology and a layout containing an image and specification table. Ask both tools for one lifestyle image from the same packshot. Review factual claims, product identity, formatting, and terminology. Load the approved content into a test storefront. Note any manual layout work or image corrections needed before your editor would publish it.

  3. Repeat a correction and prove who owns it

Change one supplier specification after an editor has approved the description. Repeat the import and relevant generation, then inspect which values and images changed. Verify the route to your store or retained PIM, including identifiers, languages, and media links. Assign responsibility for mapping changes, failed transfers, and review. Compare plan limits and actual credits consumed for accepted outputs, including corrections.

A few useful answers.

Can Ergonode already fill attributes from a PDF?

Yes. AI Complete can use a PDF or selected existing attributes as context. The PDF route has documented file and attribute-type limits; the July release also added model selection and a confidence threshold. These are real areas of overlap with Lasso. Test both on specifications for closely related models, including an absent value and a contradiction. Review whether each suggested value belongs to the exact product. A confidence setting helps control suggestions but does not establish that a specification is correct.

Will a saved import profile handle every supplier file?

A saved profile helps when the supplier keeps a predictable spreadsheet structure. Ergonode’s product importer works one language and one template for new products at a time; it does not create missing attributes. Plan the product model before treating an import as routine. For either platform, repeat your trial with changed headers, new option values, and an existing SKU. Lasso is worth testing when the recurring workload also includes document extraction and normalization. Compare the exceptions someone still needs to resolve, not just the first clean import.

Does Ergonode also generate images and localized content?

Yes. AI Photo Studio uses packshots with configured models and scenes, and generated assets stay in DAM. The same release added translation prompts and multiple target languages in one action. Lasso therefore needs to earn its place through your actual content workflow. Compare product fidelity in generated scenes, consistent terminology, and the effort needed to put approved images into reusable rich descriptions. Include a technical product whose shape and connections must remain accurate. Neither attractive imagery nor fluent translation is sufficient without review.

How do we keep automation from overwriting approved work?

Define when regeneration is allowed. Ergonode’s automation guide recommends conditions such as an empty description to avoid repeated overwrites; its workflows can restrict transitions by language completeness and reviewer role. Test these rules with a later supplier correction rather than assuming approval makes every field immutable. In Lasso, use the available batch controls and inspect AI Activity when reviewing an output. Confirm how your team protects manual edits in the real handoff. An activity record explains a change; it is not, by itself, an approval policy.

Source 4Source 5
Can we keep Ergonode and use Lasso for preparation?

That is a possible architecture to evaluate. Ergonode exposes GraphQL access with read-only keys by default, optional write access, and product-segment scoping. This establishes an integration route, not a verified native Lasso connector. Start with reviewed records transferred by the route you intend to maintain. Agree which system owns identifiers, technical attributes, descriptions, and assets. Prove language mapping, media handling, and a correction round trip before expanding. Keeping Ergonode as the catalog of record can be sensible if Lasso improves a specific upstream task.

What should we check beyond the subscription price?

Ergonode has a Free plan as well as paid plans; a PIM evaluation does not necessarily require a paid implementation. Its pricing separates catalog, user, storage, automation, API, and AI-credit allowances. Paid plans are billed annually, and unused monthly AI credits expire. Check your expected catalog size and measure credits on accepted descriptions, attribute completion, and images, including retries. Compare the same workload in Lasso and include setup, review, and integration ownership. Free signup or a lower starting price alone does not settle the commercial fit.
