Product data enrichment

Lasso vs Mirakl Catalog Platform

Turn supplier information into content your team can own.

Compare Lasso vs Mirakl Catalog Platform for supplier data onboarding. Mirakl coordinates supplier submissions, corrections, continuing updates, and AI enrichment before data reaches internal systems. Lasso brings extraction, content, images, and catalog work to your team.

Consider Mirakl Catalog Platform

Mirakl Catalog Platform fits retailers and wholesalers coordinating large supplier networks, self-service submissions, correction requests, and downstream delivery.

Choose Lasso when

Choose Lasso when your team needs to improve the supplier data it already receives and keep working with products, content, and assets after import.

Two tools. Different starting points.

Mirakl Catalog Platform

Place in the stack
Supplier data entry point feeding validated information into PIM, ERP, and DAM systems.
Supplier collaboration
Self-service supplier portal, mapping, targeted messages, and correction requests.
Enrichment
Validation, category recommendations, and AI enrichment of attributes, content, and translations; confirm the included configuration.
After onboarding
Continue supplier updates and corrections, then deliver governed product data into internal systems.

Lasso

Place in the stack
Product preparation and PIM and DAM workspace, standalone or alongside another PIM.
Supplier collaboration
Work on received supplier files; the dedicated supplier portal is listed as coming soon.
Enrichment
Extract source documents, research missing details, and create product content and imagery.
After onboarding
Keep editing, enriching, reviewing, and managing products and media in the same catalog.

Decide who should resolve the next supplier correction

Mirakl Catalog Platform and Lasso both improve incoming product data. The choice depends on supplier participation, the work your editors do, and where approved information will live.

Supplier self-service or work inside your team?

Mirakl Catalog Platform gives suppliers a portal, reusable format mappings, and feedback on submissions. Its current quality controls route rejected products back for correction. This matters when suppliers should maintain their own data against your requirements, including later updates. Lasso is worth testing when your team receives documents and needs to extract, complete, and approve them directly; its dedicated supplier portal is planned. Include an actual supplier in the evaluation if self-service is essential, and observe who resolves exceptions after the first successful import.

Compare enrichment after the mapping is done

Mirakl already supports AI-assisted catalog work. Its Graybar case describes category recommendations, attribute and content enrichment, and translations; its AI material places Catalog Transformer within MCM Advanced. Lasso also maps and enriches product data, then adds reusable rich-content templates and image work in the catalog workspace. Give both tools the same incomplete technical product and brand requirements. Compare unsupported specifications, terminology, finished layout, and the explanation available to a reviewer. Confirm the Mirakl configuration included in your proposal instead of assuming every AI feature is in the same package.

Give supplier data and edited content clear owners

Mirakl positions supplier catalog management upstream of a PIM, with continuing supplier updates and governed delivery into internal systems. Its developer portal separates integration, operator, and seller API roles. Lasso can be the place your team maintains product attributes, content, and assets, or work alongside an existing PIM. These roles can complement each other, but a combined setup needs an agreed owner for each field. Test whether a later supplier correction preserves approved copy and images. An API on each side does not by itself establish a ready-made connection.

Test two suppliers and one update after approval

Choose one product family with a recurring supplier feed and another supplier that sends spreadsheets and PDF specifications. Start free in Lasso with the material your team already receives.

  1. Keep the difficult records in the sample

Include variants with similar names, mixed units, a missing required value, and one disagreement between the spreadsheet and specification. Define product identifiers, target categories, allowed values, and the source that takes priority. Test each supplier’s available intake route. Record what must be mapped or extracted and who maintains those rules when a supplier changes a column name or file layout.

  2. Follow a correction through to usable content

Apply the same required fields and validation rules. Ask a supplier to resolve one rejected value in Mirakl, and have your catalog editor resolve the equivalent case from received files in Lasso. Then prepare descriptions for your target markets with a specification table and approved images. Compare the source evidence, factual corrections, layout, and remaining work for both people, using the capabilities available in each account.

  3. Repeat delivery after a supplier changes a value

Send approved products to a test destination using the proposed export or integration. Then submit a changed measurement and replacement image while an editor has newer approved copy. Inspect identity matching, overwrite rules, failed-item feedback, and the final receiving record. Assign responsibility for mappings, supplier follow-up, and integration maintenance. Request the commercial and implementation scope for this exact flow, including recurring updates.

A few useful answers.

Is Mirakl Catalog Platform the same as its marketplace software?

They address different scopes within Mirakl’s suite. Catalog Platform prepares supplier product information before it reaches internal systems, including first-party retail assortments. Marketplace Platform also manages seller operations, order routing, commissions, and related commerce processes. Catalog capabilities overlap across the suite, so identify the product and configuration you are evaluating. Lasso is relevant to product data, content, and assets. If your requirement includes operating a multi-seller marketplace, compare those operational systems separately; a product-preparation workspace does not cover that whole requirement.

Does Mirakl already enrich and translate product data with AI?

Yes. Mirakl’s Graybar case describes AI category recommendations, content and attribute enrichment, and translations. Its Catalog Transformer material also describes normalization into a target taxonomy and completion of missing attributes, naming MCM Advanced. AI enrichment alone is therefore not a reason to switch. Ask which functions are enabled for your deployment and test difficult product facts. Lasso adds a shared environment for supplier extraction, reusable content templates, images, and catalog work. Compare the complete approved listing and later correction, rather than the presence of an AI label.

Can we keep our existing PIM?

Yes. Mirakl explicitly positions Catalog Platform as an upstream complement to a PIM; its supplier workflow includes ongoing updates, not just initial onboarding. Lasso can also prepare and enrich products alongside another PIM. First decide which system owns supplier values, approved marketing copy, media, and publication status. Then verify that an update to one attribute preserves unrelated edits in the receiving system. You may only need one additional layer. Use the pilot to establish whether supplier coordination, internal content production, or both are the unresolved problem.

What if suppliers must submit and correct data themselves?

Include Mirakl’s supplier portal in your evaluation. Its practical onboarding guide describes supplier uploads, taxonomy mapping, alerts for missing information, operator approval, and messaging for corrections. Lasso’s dedicated supplier portal is planned; today, test its workflow with files your team receives. Invite a supplier with limited technical resources as well as one that already provides structured data. Ask each to correct a rejected field and send a later update. The useful measure is the work required from suppliers and your team throughout that process.

Could we use Lasso alongside Mirakl?

Potentially, if each has a clear job. One architecture to evaluate is supplier coordination in Mirakl and selected content or image preparation in Lasso, with approved results handed to your PIM or commerce system. Mirakl’s developer portal describes Front, Operator, and Seller APIs and warns that some documentation requires authentication. This supports evaluating an integration, not assuming a native Lasso connector. Before committing, prove product matching, field ownership, asset transfer, error handling, and the return path for corrections on a small assortment.

What should a proposal and implementation plan include?

Describe the supplier formats, category model, validation rules, target systems, content outputs, and recurring updates from your pilot. Ask Mirakl to identify the Catalog Platform and AI configuration included, especially any Catalog Transformer or MCM Advanced scope. For either approach, assign supplier onboarding, mapping changes, approvals, and integration support to named owners. Request a breakdown of subscription, implementation, and usage terms for that workload. Public product descriptions do not establish which option costs less or how much setup your own catalog will require.
