Consider openProd

A strong fit for a checked onboarding layer in front of Pimcore, Akeneo or Ergonode, with source-linked extraction and human decisions on imports.

Choose Lasso when

Choose Lasso when the same team should carry source data through enrichment, rich descriptions, image improvements and ongoing catalog management.

Decide what happens after the supplier file is checked

Both tools extract supplier data and keep products in a structured catalog. Compare the review decisions, the finished content, and the route into the PIM you already use.

Compare the decisions a reviewer actually makes

openProd maps extracted values to your attributes, units, and dictionary codes, then asks for decisions on conversions and unmapped values before saving. Its catalog also supports families and variants, so it can hold the resulting records itself. Lasso deserves a parallel test when your team wants to continue from the same batch into missing-attribute research and content preparation. Give reviewers a contradictory specification and an unfamiliar unit. Judge whether they can establish the right value and understand the consequences of accepting it, rather than treating source links alone as a differentiator.

Test the complete product page, including its images

openProd already has a product-card assistant for descriptions, translations, and SEO suggestions, plus a linked asset library. Content and media are therefore real areas of overlap. A practical reason to evaluate Lasso is its reusable rich-content templates and image generation, editing, and requirement checks, including images inside descriptions. Ask each tool to deliver the page your shop can actually render. Compare layout reuse, factual consistency, photo fidelity, and the effort to fix one section. This is more revealing than comparing a generated paragraph with a supplier spreadsheet.

Choose the handoff around your existing PIM

For Pimcore, openProd documents reading the data model, selecting products to sync, and verifying the result in Pimcore. Its Akeneo route is agreed according to edition and setup. That distinction matters when estimating implementation. Lasso can be evaluated as the product preparation workspace alongside your PIM, but the actual transfer needs its own proof. Define which system owns each attribute and how corrections return. If you need custom automation, inspect authentication, permissions, failure handling, and update triggers; an API is an interface to build against, not a complete integration on its own.

Rehearse a supplier delivery and its first correction

Use the same product family, source files, and destination model in both tools. Include the cases that create review work in your real catalog.

  1. Import a PDF and a conflicting update together

Choose a technical family with shared variant attributes, a supplier PDF, a spreadsheet update, and product images. Make one measurement disagree across the files and include a dictionary value you do not yet use. Ask each reviewer to preserve the identifiers, confirm units, resolve the conflict, and identify the source behind the accepted value. Record any preparation outside the tool.

  2. Turn the accepted facts into a publishable page

Prepare descriptions in your target languages using your terminology, a specification table, and two product images. In Lasso, include the rich-content template and an image requirement that needs correction. Ask a colleague to change one section without disturbing the rest. Inspect the rendered output in your shop, unsupported claims, localization, and whether the approved technical values remain consistent throughout.

  3. Repeat an update through the real destination route

Send the reviewed products to a test PIM through the route you would operate. Then change a supplier dimension while keeping an editor-approved description. Inspect changed fields, duplicate records, asset references, and recovery from a rejected value. For Pimcore, verify the sync result in the destination. Assign ownership for mapping changes and retries, and request a proposal covering this exact workflow and its ongoing usage.

A few useful answers.

Does openProd show where an extracted value came from?

Yes. Its import review links values back to the source and shows the original and converted values before you decide. The save preview separates new products from updates. Compare that with Lasso on an ambiguous supplier specification: can an editor find the evidence, reject an unsuitable conversion, and understand exactly what will be saved? Source visibility is useful in both products. It still takes a reviewer to distinguish a correct conversion from a value that belongs to another variant or document revision.

Is openProd only a layer in front of another PIM?

No. Its own catalog includes typed attributes, units, dictionaries, variant inheritance, localized values, bulk editing, and restorable history. Its assets area links images, galleries, videos, and files to products and keeps file versions. Lasso also combines product and asset management. Choose by the work your team must complete: maintaining an existing model, enriching incomplete records, or producing rich content and corrected images. If replacing a PIM is the goal, test the required data model and downstream delivery explicitly rather than assuming a successful supplier import covers the whole replacement.

Source 2Source 3
Can openProd already help write product content?

Yes. The product-card assistant can suggest descriptions, translations, and SEO content using catalog values. Suggestions include supporting attributes and require acceptance; accepted and rejected decisions remain with the product. Lasso is worth testing when the deliverable includes a reusable visual or HTML content template, edited images, and enrichment across a working batch. Compare those complete outputs. The current openProd assistant page marks expansion beyond the product card as coming soon, so confirm the exact assistant scope in your proposed deployment rather than assuming every catalog task works conversationally.

Can we keep our PIM and evaluate Lasso alongside it?

Yes, evaluate Lasso as a preparation workspace without starting with a catalog migration. Select the fields it should improve and prove the export or transfer into your existing system. openProd also targets this arrangement; for Akeneo it explicitly agrees the route according to edition and setup. Using both preparation tools would need a clear division of work and a validated transfer, rather than two places editing the same field. Specify product identifiers, language codes, media references, and correction ownership before deciding whether coexistence adds value.

Source 6
What needs checking for recurring imports and synchronization?

For Pimcore, openProd documents selected-product sync, per-product status, verification in Pimcore, and retrying records that need attention. For a custom connection, its REST API uses user sessions and role permissions; the public developer page currently says webhooks are unavailable. Confirm how your proposed process detects changes and starts a transfer. In either product, repeat a supplier correction after an editor has improved the description. Check field ownership, duplicates, failed updates, and the person responsible for recovery. A first successful import does not demonstrate a safe recurring process.

Source 5Source 7
How should we compare the commercial commitment?

openProd publishes a quoted pilot followed by a subscription sized around supplier files, the PIM connection, catalog model, hosting, and support. It states no per-seat fees and a minimum 12-month subscription, with monthly or annual billing. Request those terms for your actual workload, including the AI usage measured in the pilot. Start for free in Lasso to inspect the preparation and content work, then compare the required plan and usage for the same scope. Include implementation, reviewer time, and integration maintenance; public descriptions do not establish which option will cost your team less.
