PIM & AI catalog platforms

Lasso vs PIMinto

From supplier files to rich product pages, in one workflow.

Lasso vs PIMinto: both combine PIM, DAM, and AI enrichment. Choose Lasso to extract supplier documents, research missing details, and build reusable product content with images in one workspace.

A shared home for your products and AI.

Choose around the work you need done.

Consider PIMinto

PIMinto suits teams centralizing product records and assets, using AI to update content, and distributing catalog data through channel views, feeds, APIs, and brand portals.

Choose Lasso when

Choose Lasso when preparing the product is the main job: turn mixed supplier files into structured attributes, rich descriptions, and finished imagery, with the sources available for review.

The differences that matter to your catalog.

Starting material
PIMintoImport CSV, Excel, API data, and supplier feeds with field mapping.
LassoExtract PDFs, XML, spreadsheets, and images; map fields, normalize units, and review batches.
AI workflow
PIMintoRun assistant tasks on selected SKUs, choose input and output fields, then review results before applying.
LassoSet attribute instructions, research product sources, and inspect the evidence and steps for enriched values.
Content and images
PIMintoAI descriptions and translations, with images, videos, and documents linked to product records in DAM.
LassoReusable rich-content templates plus image generation, editing, and validation in the product workflow.
Channel delivery
PIMintoChannel views, feeds, and API delivery; documented Shopify two-way sync and Google Merchant Center publishing.
LassoMaintain the catalog in Lasso or enrich alongside your PIM, with exports, XML feeds, and API connections.

Find the work your next PIM must improve

Both platforms combine product records, assets, and AI. Compare how a supplier update becomes an approved listing, then reaches the people and channels that need it.

Repeatable imports or mixed supplier documents?

PIMinto documents reusable import jobs with field mapping through Views, validation settings, and scripting for conditional transformations. That is relevant when the supplier already sends a predictable table and the challenge is maintaining its mapping. Lasso is worth testing when specifications arrive across PDFs, spreadsheets, XML, images, and product URLs and your team must assemble the record. Compare the work before the clean table exists: finding the right model, extracting specifications, resolving unit differences, and deciding which incomplete products can move forward.

Compare the approved product, including AI review

PIMinto already documents bulk assistant tasks with selected input and output fields, plus examples of translation and web research. Its task guide includes reviewing results before applying them. Lasso brings another workflow to evaluate: attribute instructions, source inspection in AI Activity, reusable rich-content templates, and image generation, editing, and checks. Ask both tools to produce the same finished product card. The useful distinction is how your editor verifies an uncertain specification and fixes the final text or image, rather than whether an AI button exists.

Separate preparing content from operating distribution

PIMinto combines channel-specific Views, scheduled exports, and brand portals for sharing product information and assets. Its release notes document two-way Shopify exchange and Google Merchant Center publishing. This matters when partner access and recurring distribution drive the purchase. Choose Lasso for evaluation when the bottleneck is preparing complete data, descriptions, and imagery; then prove the required export or API handoff. A partner catalog and an incoming supplier portal solve different jobs. Lasso’s supplier portal is planned, so do not base today’s decision on that future capability.

Test one supplier update and two real recipients

Choose a product family your team knows well, with a supplier spreadsheet, technical documents, and images. Use a store and a dealer as the two output requirements.

  1. Process the original files and a later correction

Include a variant family, a specification hidden in a PDF, an inconsistent unit, and a SKU already in the catalog. Record the preparation needed before each tool can populate the agreed attributes. Then send a corrected supplier table. Check mapping reuse, product identity, unresolved values, and protection of an editor’s approved description. Assign responsibility for exceptions instead of silently filling them.

  2. Review research, localized copy, and one finished image

Give both tools the same brand terminology, allowed research sites, description layout, and image requirements. Include two similarly named models and one unavailable specification. Inspect evidence and corrections before accepting output. In PIMinto, examine the assistant task’s inputs and outputs; in Lasso, inspect AI Activity and the template preview. Record how much intervention the final listing requires for your target markets.

  3. Verify store delivery and restricted partner access

Define separate store and dealer outputs, keeping internal notes out of both. Test the intended feed, file, or API route in a safe destination and repeat it after changing a product. In PIMinto, check Views and access-group permissions with a restricted user. Confirm identifiers, assets, refresh behavior, and failure ownership. Ask each vendor to price this exact scope, including AI usage and integration work.

A few useful answers.

Does PIMinto already research and enrich products with AI?

Yes. Its official assistant examples include researching product information from a brand and SKU, generating descriptions, and translating existing text. The detailed task guide describes choosing fields and reviewing results before applying them. Lasso is worth comparing on the complete preparation job: original supplier files, structured attributes, rich descriptions, and image work. Use an uncertain product match in your trial and inspect what the reviewer can verify. These public examples establish overlap; they do not establish equal accuracy or identical behavior in your account.

Can PIMinto handle recurring supplier imports?

Yes. The import guide covers saved jobs, mapped Views, validation settings, and scripting for more complex transformations. Files can be uploaded or sent to an import URL; server-level jobs require discussion with support. That is different from proving how an irregular technical PDF becomes a usable table. Test the original supplier package in both tools and record any preparation outside them. Lasso’s document extraction and batch review are particularly relevant when your team must assemble specifications from several sources before the normal import can begin.

How does PIMinto control what a dealer or editor can see?

Views select attributes, remap their names, and restrict product subsets; access groups determine permitted actions. This makes the data model part of your access design. Test it with an internal cost field, a dealer-only assortment, and a newly added attribute, using the actual restricted account. Check export and API behavior as well as the screen. For either platform, assign someone to maintain those rules when the catalog changes. A tidy shared view alone is not proof that every downstream recipient receives only the intended data.

Source 5Source 8
Is a PIMinto brand portal the same as supplier onboarding?

Its brand-portal documentation describes an outward-facing product catalog: partners can browse information and assets, search, filter, and generate product or line sheets. That is useful for dealers who need approved material. Receiving incomplete supplier submissions, extracting documents, and resolving missing fields is a separate process to evaluate. Lasso supports that internal preparation work; its dedicated supplier portal is coming soon. If partner self-service is essential today, test the exact portal experience and access rules rather than treating the word “portal” as a shared feature.

Source 7
Can we keep PIMinto and prepare richer content in Lasso?

That is an integration architecture to evaluate. PIMinto documents API access governed by access-group permissions; Lasso supports exports and API workflows alongside an existing PIM. This does not establish a native connector between them. Start with a small set of attributes owned by Lasso and keep publishing ownership explicit. Verify SKU matching, languages, image references, and protection of newer edits when data returns. If PIMinto already operates your channel feeds or dealer portal, prove that approved content reaches those outputs before expanding the scope.

What should we confirm about plans and AI costs?

PIMinto publishes a free Starter plan, unlimited users, and paid tiers with different catalog, storage, View, and portal allowances. Its pricing matrix places the AI Assistant on paid plans. Public AI setup information is less consistent: the homepage describes built-in AI at no extra cost, while the detailed guide describes a customer OpenAI key and provider billing. Confirm the current arrangement for your account. Compare a quote for your actual imports, outputs, AI work, and implementation with Lasso usage measured on the same approved products.
